Pricing

One price. One time. Then it is yours.

The number changes with how much software there is to build, never with how many people use it. No per-seat fee, no renewal, and nothing you must keep paying to use it.

The price is fixed before anything is built, and it is fixed after the map rather than before it, which is the only honest order to do it in.

Anything we built that does not do what we agreed is ours to fix, whenever it turns up, at no cost

After handover

Three kinds of money, and only one of them is ours.

A subscription charges you for time, whether or not anything improved this month. This charges for work, and only work you asked for. Both cost money. Only one of them leaves you owning something.

Once, to us

The build

Fixed before anything starts. $5,000, $9,000, or from $18,000 for the largest. This is the number on the pricing table above and it does not move once agreed.

Monthly, but not to us

What it runs on

Hosting, and whatever else your system genuinely uses: Stripe if it takes payments, your domain, an SMS gateway if it sends messages. These are paid direct to those providers, in your own accounts, and you are already paying most of them today.

Only when you ask

Changes as you grow

When the business changes and you want the system to change with it. Quoted per scope, job by job. If you never ask, you never pay, and the system keeps running exactly as handed over.

That middle column is the one most people hide. Every vendor on our cost pages has it too and buries it. ServiceM8 bills card processing and SMS on top of the subscription. Fergus meters timesheet users, contractor days, certificates and SMS separately. Naming our own is what earns us the right to point at theirs.

What actually happens

Three ways this goes. The subscription bills in all of them.

We are not going to guess which one you are, and we have no client history to average, so here is the shape of each instead.

Path one

It does the job

You asked for something, we built it, and it keeps doing that. Some businesses never need another thing.

Paid to us after handover$0

The subscription you left would have billed every month of it.

Path two

The business grows

More people on it. A few things it needs to do that it did not on day one. Each one quoted before it starts, and only if you want it.

Paid to us after handoverThe changes you chose

This is us. We built ours in about four weeks, then added to it as the business changed. That is path two, and we are the client.

Path three

It becomes the system

Whole areas of the business move onto it. At that point it is effectively a second build, and it is priced like one.

Paid to us after handoverA second build

Even here you own both of them. Five years of renting leaves you owning neither.

Defects are not support, and they are not on a clock. If something we built does not do what we agreed it would, that is ours to fix whenever it surfaces, at no cost, whether or not you have a support arrangement. Finishing the job properly is part of the job.

Support

The industry charges 15 to 20 per cent a year. We do not.

The convention for custom software maintenance is 15 to 20 per cent of the build cost, every year, indefinitely. On a $9,000 build that would be $1,350 to $1,800 a year, forever, to keep something you have already paid for.

We do not charge that. And the reason is worth stating, because a claim like that is only worth anything if you can see why we can afford it.

That convention exists because most custom software has a server to patch, a framework to keep current and plugins that break. Yours is static files on Cloudflare with one small function behind the form. There is no server. There is nothing to patch on a schedule. That is not generosity, it is a consequence of how we build.

So support here is optional, and it is genuinely optional. The system keeps running without it. What you are buying is that when something does drift, you are not starting from cold with someone who has never seen your code.

What support covers

  • Security updates to the software it is built on, applied and checked
  • Integration drift: when Xero, Stripe or a portal changes something, we fix it
  • Uptime and error monitoring, so we notice before you do
  • Small changes: a label, a dropdown option, an email template
  • Questions from your team, answered by someone who knows the system
  • Restoring a backup if something is deleted

What it does not

  • New features or new areas of the business. Those are quoted per scope
  • Your Cloudflare, Stripe and domain bills, which go to them and not to us
  • Rebuilding data beyond restoring a backup
  • Training new staff beyond the handover walkthrough

Support, if you want it

Quoted with the buildPriced against what we actually built you, and agreed before handover. Cancel whenever. The system does not stop working.

If you do not

$0Changes quoted per scope, whenever you ask for one.

We criticise four vendors on this site for not publishing a price, so it is fair to ask why this one is quoted. The difference is what is being withheld. They quote-gate the price of the product itself, so you cannot evaluate it at all without entering a sales process. Every price you would actually pay us to build something is on this page, in numbers. The one quoted item is optional, you can decline it and still have a working system, and what it covers depends entirely on what we built you.

The 15 to 20 per cent figure is the long-standing convention for custom software maintenance, widely published by development firms and analysts. Checked 19 August 2026. We quote it because we charge less than it, not because we think it is unreasonable for the kind of software it describes.

How it goes

Nobody buys a $9,000 build off a website. So we do not ask you to.

Four steps, and you can stop after any of them with something in your hands.

The cost check

Free

We add up what your current software actually costs over five years against a build, using the vendor's own published pricing. Takes about twenty minutes and you keep the numbers whether or not you go further.

The map

Paid, small

One day writing down how the work actually moves, including the parts that currently only live in somebody's head. You keep the map whether or not you build with us. This is where most of the value gets decided.

The build

$5,000 to $18,000+

Fixed price, agreed before anything is written. Basic, Premium or Complex depending on how much software there is to build, not on how many people will use it.

Changes, later

Batched

Quoted per scope and built when you ask. Never compulsory, because a bill you must pay to keep using software you own is the thing this whole business is arguing against.

Common questions

Pricing, answered properly.

Why are you cheaper than other Australian development agencies?

Australian agencies publish $15,000 to $75,000, with $25,000 to $45,000 typical for an SME build, checked 16 August 2026. We sit below that floor on purpose. We are small, we do not carry an account management layer, and we scope hard by refusing work that needs a regulated engine underneath it. The trade is that we say no to a class of project a bigger firm would take.

Is the price really fixed?

Yes, and it is fixed after the map rather than before it, which is the honest order. Quoting a fixed price before anyone has written down how the business works is how projects end up renegotiated halfway through.

What is not included?

Hosting, which you pay directly to Cloudflare rather than to us, usually a very small amount and sometimes nothing. Third-party subscriptions the build talks to, such as Xero or a payment gateway. And your domain, which stays in your name.

Do you charge per user?

No, and we never will. Adding your next hire costs nothing. That is the single biggest difference between owning and renting, and it is the reason the maths turns over so fast once a team passes about eight people.

What if it turns out I should not build anything?

Then we say so on the cost check and you have lost twenty minutes. If ServiceM8 at $79 a month flat covers your business, a $9,000 build takes ninety-five years to pay for itself. We would rather tell you that than sell you something that does not make sense.

Can we pay in instalments?

Yes. Builds are normally split across a deposit and milestones tied to what is actually working, not to dates.

Start with the free cost check.

Twenty minutes, your vendor's published pricing, and an honest five-year number. You keep it whether or not you build anything.
